”CRANKER ” (Based on vintage bowling shoes)
Nine-pin bowling, established by the religious leader Luther in Germany in the early 19th century, was brought to the U.S. by European immigrants in the 17th century. As a result of its popularity in the U.S. , it became a subject of gambling and was forced to be banned, but by getting around a loophole in the law and adding one more pin, ten-pin bowling, which is still used today, was born. From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, global rules were established and bowling became standardized.
It is believed that the first leather shoes specifically for bowling were made around the 1880s. The characteristic split toe is thought to have been established as the spacing between the feathers gradually became closer at the toe from the 1930s to the 1950s.
The split toe, famous as a design of the bowling shoe, is an excellent design that allows fine adjustment of the fit while also providing reinforcement, as the eyelets can be attached as close as possible to the toe, and has a simple yet unique presence.

Model 05: “CRANKER” is based on the iconic split toe design, with a thread-wrapped collar, a two-tone dyed heel, curled edges and a seamless back.

16世紀初頭のドイツ、宗教家ルターによって確立された「ナインピンボウリング」は、17世紀にヨーロッパの移民によりアメリカに持ち込まれた。アメリカで流行した結果、賭博の対象となり禁止に追い込まれるが、法の穴を掻い潜りピンの数を１本増やしたのが現在に繋がる「テンピンボウリング」の誕生だ。19世紀後半〜20世紀初頭に世界共通のルールが定められボウリングは標準化されることになる。

初めてボウリング専用のレザーシューズが作られたのは1880年台頃と考えられている。1930年代から1950年代にかけて羽根と羽根の間隔が爪先で次第に接近し確立されたと考えられるのが特徴的なスプリットトゥだ。
ザ・ボウリングシューズのデザインとして名高いスプリットトゥは、アイレットが爪先ぎりぎりまで取り付けられる為、フィット感の微調整を可能にしつつ補強も兼ねた優れたデザインであり、シンプルながら独特な存在感を持つ。

”SPRINTER ” (Based on vintage track shoes)

In the mid-19th century, running shoes with a standard balmoral design, reinforced leather tape and spikes were created, but in terms of the current trend, the first shoes specialized for running were spike shoes created in 1895 by J.W. Foster & Sons, the predecessor of Reebok. Later, the Dassler brothers, who founded Adidas and Puma, and others created various shoes for different sports. They developed materials and created even higher level athletic shoes.
The design of the "SPRINTER" uses a whole cut structure with no seams at the toe, which was created by J.W. Foster & Sons in the early days of track shoes. In addition, the stitching seen when tape is sewn inside the upper, which is a design to prevent stretching in areas that are subject to high loads, is also reproduced. The stitching line that crosses the upper, which is a simple one-piece leather structure, allows you to fully enjoy the charm of the design of vintage athletic shoes.

"SPRINTER"のデザインは、黎明期のトラックシューズの中でも、J.W.フォスター＆サンズ社が初期に作成していたつま先にシームを持たないホールカット構造を採用。さらに、高負荷がかかる部位への伸び止の意匠である、アッパー内部にテープを縫い付けた時に見られるステッチも再現した。シンプルな一枚革構造のアッパーを横断するステッチラインは、ヴィンテージアスレティックシューズのデザインの魅力を十分に味わう事ができる。

In the mid-19th century, the popularity of cycling led to a rise in the demand for lightweight cycling shoes. It was around this time that the prototype of modern cycling shoes was born, featuring a unique and beautiful design in which the eyestays are connected in a streamlined manner to the toes, and also serve as reinforcement. Full-scale bicycle racing began around the 1890s. The prototype of the road bike for racing was completed in the 1900s, and the idea of increasing speed by fixing the feet to the pedals was born at the same time. ”CRANKER ” (Based on vintage bowling shoes)
Nine-pin bowling, established by the religious leader Luther in Germany in the early 19th century, was brought to the U.S. by European immigrants in the 17th century. As a result of its popularity in the U.S. , it became a subject of gambling and was forced to be banned, but by getting around a loophole in the law and adding one more pin, ten-pin bowling, which is still used today, was born. From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, global rules were established and bowling became standardized.
It is believed that the first leather shoes specifically for bowling were made around the 1880s. The characteristic split toe is thought to have been established as the spacing between the feathers gradually became closer at the toe from the 1930s to the 1950s.
The split toe, famous as a design of the bowling shoe, is an excellent design that allows fine adjustment of the fit while also providing reinforcement, as the eyelets can be attached as close as possible to the toe, and has a simple yet unique presence.

Model 05: “CRANKER” is based on the iconic split toe design, with a thread-wrapped collar, a two-tone dyed heel, curled edges and a seamless back.

16世紀初頭のドイツ、宗教家ルターによって確立された「ナインピンボウリング」は、17世紀にヨーロッパの移民によりアメリカに持ち込まれた。アメリカで流行した結果、賭博の対象となり禁止に追い込まれるが、法の穴を掻い潜りピンの数を１本増やしたのが現在に繋がる「テンピンボウリング」の誕生だ。19世紀後半〜20世紀初頭に世界共通のルールが定められボウリングは標準化されることになる。

初めてボウリング専用のレザーシューズが作られたのは1880年台頃と考えられている。1930年代から1950年代にかけて羽根と羽根の間隔が爪先で次第に接近し確立されたと考えられるのが特徴的なスプリットトゥだ。

In 1845, American Alexander Joy Cartwright Jr. created the rules that could be considered the prototype of modern baseball. For a while after that, ordinary canvas sneakers were used for baseball, but in the late 1860s, when the first professional team was born in the United States, pin-type spikes began to be used by top players. In the 1870s, triangular spikes attached to the toe and heel were created, and the baseball spikes that we use today were established.
The unique line that connects the toe reinforcement and lace stays used in "SLUGGER" is the upper design of baseball spikes that represent the 20th century. This complete design, which combines reinforcement and flexibility, has been used almost unchanged for 100 years. The reinforcing leather line on the toe is reminiscent of the cap toe of dress shoes, and it can be surprisingly flexibly incorporated into a variety of outfits.

”SPRINTER ” (Based on vintage track shoes)

In the mid-19th century, running shoes with a standard balmoral design, reinforced leather tape and spikes were created, but in terms of the current trend, the first shoes specialized for running were spike shoes created in 1895 by J.W. Foster & Sons, the predecessor of Reebok. Later, the Dassler brothers, who founded Adidas and Puma, and others created various shoes for different sports. They developed materials and created even higher level athletic shoes.
The design of the "SPRINTER" uses a whole cut structure with no seams at the toe, which was created by J.W. Foster & Sons in the early days of track shoes. In addition, the stitching seen when tape is sewn inside the upper, which is a design to prevent stretching in areas that are subject to high loads, is also reproduced.
